Eco Committee
The Eco-Committee plays an active role in making our school a greener and cleaner community.
Along with the help of Miss Rees, the children hold regular committee meetings to make plans around how we can create a safe and clean environment for humans and animals, now and for the future.
What have we been up to this year?
Last year the Eco Committee organised a litter pick around Guilsfield. This was part of ‘Great Big School Clean’ organised by Keep Britain Tidy. We borrowed equipment from PCC and arranged for each class to clean up a different area of the village. In total we collected 14 full bags of litter!
We have also started a new points system for each class. 2 members of the Eco Committee check the lights & electronic equipment during lunchtimes. If they are ‘off’ when not in use the class is awarded a point. Winners are announced every half term and awarded a prize.
We also made bird feeders using plastic bottles and bird seed donated from a local shop. We positioned them around our school grounds, encouraging wildlife to our local area.
Other things we would like to achieve:
•Look into receiving free trees from Woodland Trust.
•Raise money for The Wildlife Trust.
•Send out a ‘Save Trees’ poster to all pupils in school via HWB emails.
