Transition to Secondary/High School
Most pupils attend Welshpool High School after leaving us in Year 6 and some attend Llanfyllin High School.
Parents are provided with information from High Schools when their children are in Year 6. Applications for High School are made through Powys County Council and information on this process is given during your child's last year in Primary School.
Both Welshpool and Llanfyllin High Schools hold 'Induction Days' for Year 6 pupils during the summer term. This allows children to see their new school and have lessons in many different subject areas.
Guilsfield School has close links with Welshpool High School and staff visit our school to see the Year 6 children and to discuss the transition to High School. Open evenings are also held for parents and children to see the High School and meet the staff.
If you have any questions about transition to High School please contact the Headteacher or Year 6 teacher.
